Good News Stories

Following are two examples of the work being done for the environment by women Religious:

Sisters of Mercy Emmaus Community, Nudgee - Coralie and Pauline visited the community at Emmaus and presented a session on the Brisbane bio-region with particular emphasis on the Brisbane Gateway Ports Area Strategy. Among the retired Sisters and other residents there is a very environmentally aware group who are very active in land care and in the identification of native vegetation species within the property's boundaries. Their work on behalf of the environment is inspiring and Coralie and Pauline enjoyed very much the hospitality experienced at Emmaus.

Sisters of St Joseph, The Haven, Emu Park - Sisters Margaret Rowley and Margaret Quinn are working to ensure the preservation of the unique biodiversity and natural ecology of the Tanby Point section of Emu Park earmarked for development as "The Pearl" Fine Dine and Wellness Resort. They have continued to research their facts and lobby the appropriate stakeholders. The Eco-justice Praxis Group is continuing to support the Sisters in this important work.
