Marginal Electorates Campaign Update

The major focus for the campaign at this time is the POSTCARD CAMPAIGN. A sample of the postcard used in one electorate is shown below. We are directing these postcards to the sitting member and the candidate of the other major political party in the five marginal seats we are focusing on in Queensland: two regional seats - Hinkler and Herbert, and three Brisbane-based seats - Moreton on the southside and Lilley and Petrie on the northside.

We are having postcards printed with the candidate's name printed on them. All people need to do is write their name and address, sign the card, put a stamp on it and post it. We are also having a number of postcards printed with the addressee left blank. These can be sent to any candidate, anywhere in Australia. A master copy of the postcard is available if anyone wants to get it copied for their electorate.

We are printing 12,500 postcards and we NEED HELP in getting them distributed. We will launch this campaign in April and have organised a meeting for the LILLEY/PETRIE electorates on Tuesday 24 April. This will take place at 7.30pm at the John O'Callaghan Centre, St Dymphna's Catholic Church, 479 Robinson Road, Aspley. A similar meeting is organised for MORETON on Monday 30 April at 7.30pm at the MacKillop Meeting Room, St Pius X Parish, Salisbury. These meetings will give a campaign update and concentrate on the best possible ways to get the postcards distributed.

In May Annette Arnold will visit both the HINKLER and HERBERT electorates. If anyone in any of the mentioned electorates would like to be involved, please contact Annette as soon as possible - by email or phone (07) 3891 5866.
