BOOK REVIEW

Responses to 101 Questions on Catholic Social Teaching
Kenneth R Himes OFM, Paulist Press New York 1998

Books GraphicKenneth Himes is Professor of Moral Theology at Washington Theological Union. In this very readable text, one finds basic and introductory information about the tradition of Catholic Social Teaching. It gives a concise overview of what the major documents say about political, economic and social life. Topics are grouped under the foundational themes of communitarianism, human dignity, human rights, common good, justice, and social life, and the format is of a question-answer type. The answers are brief and accurate and based on the official documents. It is a very good reference book from the point of view of checking on a single issue or topic.
